DIY soil sensor

I was advised to begin this project simple, so I did. I made soil sensor that read the amount of water in the soil almost as precisely as a real soil sensor, but it wasn't great. It was made up of two nuts and bolts, some code, and two wires that would transmit about 5V to the soil in order to measure its capacitative conductivity—which is another way of saying that it would look at how the electricity reacted to the soil's moisture content. and to display this i could have used the serial monitor but i thought about using leds to give you a general idea of the moisture content in the soil


 

RED= not enough BLUE= to much GREEN= it was good enough
